Developed by Cavia in 2010, NieR Replicant for PlayStation 3 inherited in-game lore from the Drakengard series of role-playing games. Replicant takes place after the events of Drakengard and precedes those of NieR: Automata.

NieR Replicant director Yoko Taro requested that vocal tracks feature prominently in the score by series composer Keiichi Okabe of Monaca studio. Developer Toylogic is currently preparing a high-definition enhanced port, codenamed version 1.22474487139, for release on November 23 for Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

The 15 Nightmares album includes six arrangements of music from the base game by Kakeru Ishihama, Keigo Hoashi and Ryuichi Takada, along with five themes introduced in the "World of Recycled Vessel" downloadable content pack. Excerpts are on YouTube, courtesy of the publisher. The full album is streaming on Spotify and Apple Music.
