Proteus by designer Ed Key and game composer David Kanaga has joined the PlayStation Plus catalog of streaming PlayStation 3 titles.

The ambient exploration title invites players to explore the game's titular metamorphosing island environment. Additional development on the ambient title was provided by Alex May, Jon Brodsky and Ethan Lee, prior to the creation of PlayStation Vita and Linux ports.

Back in 2012, the developers published a physical release of the game, titled Proteus: Artifact Edtion, shipping with a field guide, history booklet, and Proteus Suites on two compact discs. In October of the same year, Kanaga performed live music from Proteus at the GameCity 7 Festival in Nottingham, England. Music from the event is streaming on SoundCloud.

Protues is currently available for Windows, Mac and Linux through Steam. The digital release of the Proteus Suites album can be purchased through the composer's Bandcamp page.

From the product page:
Imaginary Soundtrack to Proteus, a game by Ed Key and David Kanaga. The game's materials have been rerecorded and mixed to the shape of an alternate journey across the island landscapes as visited by the wandering Robin Goodfellow, a Puck.

The album begins the afternoon of the day before the game begins, In the Tower, where the Birds are in congress. From here, The suites loosely follow the familiar seasonal arc of playing the game, while occasionally drifting outside of its procedural space, to trail and soak and stir up various secrets spotted along the way. The attached image of the tracklist is a visual map of the album's path.
