Marathon debuts on March 5th for PS5, Xbox Series X|S consoles and Steam
Developer Bungie has scheduled Marathon for release on March 5th. The team-based first-person extraction shooter will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows through Steam.

Marathon invites players to scavenge the lost colony of Tau Ceti IV as a bio-cybernetic Runner, detailed in the release date announcement post. "As you complete contracts for each of the six factions, you’ll learn more about their identities, motivations, and rivalries as you work together to uncover the mysteries of Tau Ceti’s fate."

A twenty-minute behind-the-scenes introduction to the dark, sci-fi world can be viewed on the developer's YouTube channel. "Vision of Marathon" includes commentary from music composer Ryan Lott, founding member of the American experimental band Son Lux. Single "Timeleach" is streaming on YouTube Music.

Audio and music from 6:52. From the release date announcement post:
Factions and their agents are one of the ways you’ll experience the story and world of Marathon. As you complete contracts for each of the six factions, you’ll learn more about their identities, motivations, and rivalries as you work together to uncover the mysteries of Tau Ceti’s fate. Combining world design, gameplay, and discoverable narrative to build a rich, living world to discover is key to Marathon’s DNA.

Completing contracts, finding narrative items, and other achievements will unlock entries in your Codex, which you can view outside of your runs. As you collect the colony’s lost audio and text logs, stumble across cryptic graffiti, dig into abandoned colony systems, and aid factions in pursuit of their various goals, you’ll begin a journey into the unknown that is only just beginning.
