Massive Entertainment of Malmö, Swenden, previously responsible for Tom Clancy’s The Division series and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, are gearing up to release Star Wars Outlaws in late August.

The single-player, third-person action-adventure game, published by Ubisoft, casts the player as the outlaw Kay Vess, portrayed by Humberly Gonzalez. Story Trailer and Developer Breakdown videos can be viewed on the Ubisoft YouTube channel. The dev team includes game directors Mathias Karlson and Julian Gerighty and narrative designers Navid Khavari and Nikki Foy.

Set between the events of "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi," the protagonist and sidekick Nix, played by Dee Bradley Baker, attempt ‘one of the biggest heists that the Outer Rim has ever seen.' Utilizing the proprietary Snowdrop game engine, the open-world game features a branching dialogue system, along with varied ground combat, stealth gameplay, starship battles, and vehicular skirmishes.

Music for Star Wars Outlaws is composed by Wilbert Roget II, who is no stranger to the Star Wars universe. The musician was responsible for music editing on 2008’s Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, and went on to score the soundtracks for Star Wars: The Old Republic in 2011 and Star Wars: Vader Immortal in 2019. The music illustrated on the launch trailer boasts a full, sweeping orchestral recording in the tradition of John Williams' film scores.

Star Wars Outlaws is scheduled for release on August 30th for Windows through Ubisoft Connect and the Epic Games Store, along with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles.
