Co-developed by Japan Studio and Pyramid, Patapon for PlayStation Portable launched 16 years ago, on this date, featuring sound design by Kemmei Adachi and Daisuke Miyake. The soundtrack album is streaming on Spotify, courtesy of Sony Interactive Entertainment.

In 2017, Sony published enhanced port Patapon Remastered for PS4. Regarding the instrumentation informing the sound design, Adachi told the PlayStation Blog, "Congas and bongos just on their own didn’t seem satisfying enough, so we had to come up with a signature sound for Patapon. On top of the African instrumentation in the foreground, we mixed in percussive instruments from a lot of different countries."

Adachi is currently serving as music composer on the independently developed spiritual successor Ratatan, directed by Patapon designer Hiroyuki Kotani.
