Mondo of Austin, Texas has published the Metal Gear MSX2 vinyl soundtrack album, pressed to heavyweight camouflaged vinyl. The ten-inch vinyl release ships from distributor PixelCrib in Melbourne, Australia.

The analog record features music from the very first incarnation of the Metal Gear franchise, composed in 1987 by the Konami Kukeiha Club. The home computer release of the tactical espionage title, designed by Hideo Kojima, popularized stealth gameplay as a strategic alternative to Konami's straightforward run-and-gun titles.

Cover artwork by illustrator Paul Mann channels the explosive energy of the 1980's action films that inspired the Metal Gear developers. Additional audio sourcing is by Thomas Torre, with mastering by James Plotkin and art direction by Mo Shafeek.

Windows ports of Metal Gear, Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance launched in September of 2020 through GOG, as part of the distributor's restoration showcase of classic Konami titles.
