Capcom first shipped the Rockman 6 cartridge for the Nintendo Famicom console on November 5th of 1993. The popular platforming series' final entry for the Famicom features chipmusic by Yuko Takehara.

In 1999, the Blue Bomber's sixth mission returned as part of the Rockman Complete Works compilation for the Sony PlayStation console. The compact disc port added a save feature, a "navi mode" with tips to help guide players, and an arranged music score. Mega Man 6 Sound Collection, bundling the Famicom soundtrack and PlayStation arrangements, can be purchased through Steam and streamed online via Spotify and Amazon Music Unlimited.

Mega Man 6 is included in the Mega Man Legacy Collection for Steam, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Laced Records' Mega Man 1-11: The Collection six-disc vinyl box set ships from distributor PixelCrib in Australia.
