Taking place in a colorful prehistoric setting, the action role-playing stars a caveman attempting to build a tower of mammoth tusks to reach the sun. Iida described the concept as an "anti-Mario game," in that the story could conclude without a happy ending. "An open-world field, and avant-garde techno music... Experience a wild, pure, and simple life," reads the Steam product description.
Record label Cassetron published the Tail of the Sun vinyl soundtrackin Japan, in August of 2024. The analog record release ships from distributors CDJapan and Play-Asia, with sound design by Yasuyuki Suzuki and Emiko Suganuma. The digital edition is streaming on Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube Music, and Amazon Music Unlimited, published by disk union.
