Bandai Namco's Ridge Racer 2 launched for PlayStation Portable in September of 2006. In Japan the racing game appears under the title Ridge Racers 2 to differentiate it from Namco's 1994 arcade release.

In 2006, publisher King Record pressed the soundtrack album "Ridge Racers 2 Direct Audio" on compact disc. The Ridge Racer series installment includes 15 original compositions, contributed by multiple artists. A Special DJ Megamix was included as a preorder bonus.


Bandai Namco Entertainment introduced a visually enhanced port of Ridge Racer 2 to PS4 and PlayStation 5 consoles in December of 2022. The upgraded console port is part of the PlayStation Plus Classics catalog and includes rewind, quick save, and custom video filter functionality.

Both the digital soundtrack and Special DJ Megamix are now available through streaming platforms, published by Bandai Namco Game Music. Music is by Hiroshi Okubo, Nobuyoshi Sano, Kohta Takahashi, Koji Nakagawa, Junichi Nakatsuru, Asuka Sakai, Megaten and AYA, streaming on Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube Music, and Amazon Music Unlimited.
