Bandai Namco's Ridge Racer 2 launched for PlayStation Portable in September of 2006. In Japan the racing game appears under the title Ridge Racers 2 to differentiate it from Namco's 1994 arcade release.

In 2006, publisher King Record pressed the soundtrack album "Ridge Racers 2 Direct Audio" on compact disc. The Ridge Racer series installment includes 15 original compositions, contributed by multiple artists.

Bandai Namco Entertainment introduced a visually enhanced port of Ridge Racer 2 to PS4 and PlayStation 5 consoles in December of 2022. The upgraded console port is part of the PlayStation Plus Classics catalog and includes rewind, quick save, and custom video filter functionality. The digital soundtrack is now available through streaming platforms, courtesy of Bandai Namco Game Music.

Music for Ridge Racers 2 Direct Audio is by Hiroshi Okubo, Nobuyoshi Sano, Kohta Takahashi, Koji Nakagawa, Junichi Nakatsuru, Asuka Sakai, Megaten and AYA. The album is streaming on Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube Music, and Amazon Music Unlimited.
