L.O.L. Lack of Love for Sega Dreamcast turns 25, today
Evolutionary life simulation game L.O.L. Lack of Love turns 25, today. Developed by Love-de-Lic and directed by Kenichi Nishi, the Sega Dreamcast game was published by ASCII Corporation exclusively for the Sega Dreamcast home console on November 2nd of 2000.

The soundtrack is composed, produced, arranged and performed by Ryuichi Sakamoto, founding member of Yellow Magic Orchestra (YMO). The 13-track album was published by Warner Japan shortly after the game's launch, with Hideki Nakajima serving as art director.

L.O.L. Lack of Love is available for streaming on Apple Music, YouTube Music, Spotify and Amazon Music Unlimited. The opening track on Sakamoto's 2024 album Opus revisits the game's main theme as a solo piano arrangement. Sakamoto performed the piece during the musician's solo piano concert in late 2022, featured in the documentary film directed by his son Neo Sora.

The composer stated, preceding the release of the documentary, "The project was conceived as a way to record my performances—while I was still able to perform—in a way that is worth preserving for the future."

The audio release of Opus in Dolby Atmos is hosted on streaming platforms, published by Milan Records.
