Developed by Now Production, Wagyan Land for Game Gear launched exclusively in Japan on July 26th, 1991. The sidescrolling platformer redesigned for the Game Gear screen stars Wagyan, a green robotic dinosaur capable of belting out sound-wave projectiles.
Music is composed by Miyoshi Okuyama (Okkun!), following his work with the developer on Hudson Soft's Adventure Island II for Nintendo Famicom.
Wagyan Land series revival for Nintendo DS, Hirameki Action: Chibikko Wagyan no Ōkina Bōken, launched exclusively in Japan in 2009.
The hybrid game combines the sidescrolling platformer gameplay of the original series with the style of brain-teasing puzzles that were a popular fixture of the portable console. The 41-track soundtrack is available through streaming platforms, composed by Ayako Yamaguchi, Kaneyuki Fujita, Masashi Sugiyama, and Nobuhiro Ohuchi.
