DarkSwitch takes place in the fantasy setting of the colossal Ardentis Trees. As the leader of an expedition dispatched to the remote research outpost, players investigate a planetary cycle of disaster caused by the emergence of a fog-like Shroud.
By harnessing Solarium drawn from the tree’s resin, the Elaran expedition sets forth on a mission to hold back the Shroud, rebuild their colony, and explore undiscovered habitats.
DarkSwitch Original Soundtrack by Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka is available through Steam, described as a "masterful blend of dark ambient, industrial textures, and emotional melodies."
Yamaoka expressed in an interview with the developer his interest in the dark atmosphere of the city-builder. Horizon Forbidden West vocalist Julie Elven co-wrote one song, participating as lyricist and solo vocalist.
A free demo is available for Windows PC through Steam. DarkSwitch is also hosted on GOG.com. The main theme is streaming on the developer's YouTube channel.
