Remedy Entertainment, primarily based in Espoo Finland, published Alan Wake's American Nightmare in collaboration with Microsoft Studios in 2012. Alan Wake Remastered launched in 2021, available for Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation consoles.

The sequel to the survival horror game picks up with the protagonist thirteen years later, as Wake (voiced by Matthew Poretta) attempts to escape an alternate dimension, called the Dark Place. This time, two separate stories unfold through the introduction of playable character Saga Anderson, an FBI profiler with a reputation for solving unsolvable cases.

Built on Remedy’s Northlight engine, players can follow Wake and Anderson’s stories in any order of their choosing. Anderson’s chapter unfolds in near Wake's vacation home in Bright Falls, and extends to the primordial forests of Cauldron Lake, and the logging town of Watery. Music is by series composer Petri Alanko, previously collaborating with Remedy on the music scores for Quantum Break and Control.

The "Chapter Songs" album is now available for streaming on Spotify. A behind-the-scenes video featuring the musician, entitled "The Sound of Fear," can be viewed on the Remedy YouTube channel. Alan Wake 2 launched today for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Windows through the Epic Games Store.

From the product page:
A string of ritualistic murders threatens Bright Falls, a small-town community surrounded by Pacific Northwest wilderness. Saga Anderson, an accomplished FBI agent with a reputation for solving impossible cases arrives to investigate the murders. Anderson’s case spirals into a nightmare when she discovers pages of a horror story that starts to come true around her.

Alan Wake, a lost writer trapped in a nightmare beyond our world, writes a dark story in an attempt to shape the reality around him and escape his prison. With a dark horror hunting him, Wake is trying to retain his sanity and beat the devil at his own game.

Anderson and Wake are two heroes on two desperate journeys in two separate realities, connected at heart in ways neither of them can understand: reflecting each other, echoing each other, and affecting the worlds around them.
