PlayStation 2 launch title Ridge Racer V was published by Namco on this date in 2000. Sony Music Entertainment Japan pressed the soundtrack on compact disc, coinciding with the launch of the racing game.

Ridge Racer V showcased the Emotion Engine's technical capabilities through locked 60 FPS performance, in addition to an intro starring virtual race queen Ai Fukami. By pressing press L1 or R1 on the controller, players could cycle through visual filters to demonstrate the real-time rendering of the opening cinematic.

Bandai Namco Game Music recently released the 15-track digital edition of the soundtrack, available for streaming on Apple Music, YouTube Music, Spotify, and Amazon Music Unlimited.

Music is by lead sound director Kohta Takahashi, Mijk van Dijk, Yuu Miyake, Nobuyoshi Sano (sanodg), and Yoshinori Kawamoto (Kisaburo). Opening Theme "Fogbound" is written and produced by Boom Boom Satellites.
