The story follows the Nameless Hero, an unassuming prisoner incarcerated against the backdrop of the kingdom's desperate war against invading hordes of orcs. From these humble origins, he is tasked with surviving a brutal environment dominated by rival gangs and investigate the horrors stirring beneath the Valley of the Mines.
Built from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5, the open world RPG is designed to react dynamically to players' actions. Developer Alkimia Interactive expanded questlines, updated combat, and redesigned non-player character routines.
The Official Soundtrack by composer and sound designer Kai Rosenkranz is hosted on Steam and GOG.com, with streaming on Apple Music, YouTube Music, Spotify, and Amazon Music Unlimited.
In the “The Essence of Gothic” making-of featurette, hosted on the 'THQ Nordic Inside' YouTube channel, the composer reflects on the goals of returning to the score.
"Now I get a second chance," he explains. "I can return to my music that I wrote back then and create new versions, create fresh versions that stand the test of time."
Gothic 1 Remake is available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles, along with Windows PC though Steam, GOG.com, and the Epic Games Store. The accolades trailer is streaming on the YouTube channel of publisher THQ Nordic.
