Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake demo planned for release in March
Koei Tecmo Games has slated Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake for release on March 12th. Developed by Team NINJA, the demo is planned for release on March 5th, available for Windows, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

The story follows twin sisters Mio and Mayu Amakura who encounter a mysterious a crimson-colored butterfly, leading them to a haunted village absent from any map. As Mio attempts to rescue Mayu and escape, her actions unknowingly retrace horrors of the past.

"The signature Camera Obscura mechanic, used to capture and fend off spirits, remains a key feature," reads the Steam page, "now offering richer and more engaging gameplay in both exploration and combat."


An overview trailer is streaming on the publisher's YouTube channel, featuring vocal track "Utsushie" by Tsuki Amano.

Tecmo's Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly for PlayStation 2 debuted in late 2003, featuring music by Ayako Toyoda. Vocal track "Chō," written and performed by Amano, is streaming on Apple Music and the musician's YouTube channel.

Project Zero 2: Wii Edition by Tecmo Koei Games followed in 2012, scored by Riichiro Kuwabara. "Kurenai," also written and performed by Amano, is streaming on Apple Music and YouTube Music. Amano's "Torikago -in this cage-" appeared in Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water, published in 2014.
