Square Enix's first soundtrack album release on Music Blu-ray followed two orchestral concerts distributed through the video disc format. Before Meteor: Final Fantasy XIV is a compilation of 104 compositions from the massively multiplayer online game.

Music from the album precedes the successful rebooting of the MMO, centering on compositions by series composer Nobuo Uematsu, lead composer Masayoshi Soken, Tsuyoshi Sekito, Naoshi Mizuta and Ryo Yamazaki.
