Jammin' Sam Miller's Donkey Kong Country 3 Recreated on Bandcamp

Louisiana-based composer Jammin’ Sam Miller has taken great pains to recreate the soundtrack to Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble using the original equipment utilized by composers Eveline Fischer and David Wise.

Each note the musician extracted from hex SPC data translated into MIDI files. From there, the vintage instruments he introduced into a modern studio setting, integrating keyboard samples and added effects and mastering. The results are an interpretation of how the 1996 game score for Donkey Kong Country 3 would have sounded if freed from the compression required by the Super Nintendo console's technical limitations.

Musique Pour La Danse's ocean blue vinyl release ships on two discs through Mental Grooves Records' Bandcamp page. Preorders for the Donkey Kong Country 3 Recreated Vinyl are open at distributors Vinyl Luxe, Light in the Attic in Seattle, and PixelCrib in Australia.

Donkey Kong Country 3 is part of Nintendo Switch Online services's Super Nintendo game library. From the product page:
Musique Pour La Danse is proud to present the Donkey Kong Country 3 OST [Recreated] of the much appreciated and globally followed Donkey Kong Country OST recreation project led by NY-based composer and producer Jammin’ Sam Miller.

Using hex SPC data crudely converted to MIDI, Jammin' Sam Miller painstakingly recreated DKC's soundtrack note by note, by finding the original equipment used to create it, translating the MIDI into a modern studio context, adding in keyboard samples, and re-mixing the sounds with added effects and mastering.
